    Next week we will be at Science of Agriculture 2017! This will be the 16th year of the program hosted by Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) in Wooster, Ohio. It is also OARDC’s biggest event of the year. This year Science of Agriculture 2017 is taking place October 17-18.

    Thank you to those who stopped by the Ohio State Energy Tent this week at Farm Science Review. Each year, Farm Science Review offers a great opportunity to connect with and educate attendees about bioproducts and alternative energy. This year was no different. Over the course of three days, we talked with attendees about biobased products, how alternative energy sources like solar can drastically reduce energy costs, and even had an anaerobic digestion demonstration! As always, there was a tremendous turnout and it was another successful year.

  3. Billion Ton Bioeconomy

    Earlier this year, eight agencies of the federal government shared their vision for a “Billion Ton Bioeconomy” initiative. At its heart, it builds an economic engine around sustainably produced plant materials and other sources of biomass that are not utilized to their full potential.  It is projected that this vision could create 1.5 million jobs, keep $200 billion in the U.S. every year, produce 80 billion kWh of electricity to power 7 million households and almost 1,400 trillion BTUs of thermal energy.
