Q: What university are you attending and what are you studying?
Ernesto: I am attending The University of Tennessee, at Knoxville. I am studying Energy Science and Engineering PhD.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I enjoy visiting natural places around Knoxville, especially the Smoky Mountains National Park.
What attracted you to CABLE and what do you hope to gain from your experience?
My research field is chemical production from biomass. I have been working in this field since my undergraduate studies. To meet people that are involved in this sector from the industry, the academy, and the research sector was what attracted me the most. I think I will learn leadership habits, increase my vision of the bioeconomy sector, and expand my professional network.
What are your career aspirations?
My passion is research in biomass transformation. I would like to become an expert in this field and help to improve the biorefinery sector from the academy and research.

What Working Group are you in and how do you see that connecting to your goals?
I am in the Technology & Research Needs for the Bioeconomy Working Group. I think this has been the perfect Working Group for me because it has helped me understand the needs of the biomass and the biorefinery sector. This is a key experience for my work, since it will help to ground the knowledge that I am generating through my research.
