Industry Input on the Future of Ohio Bioproducts Print E-mail

The emerging bioproducts industry was the focus of an industry meeting co-hosted by the combined Board’s of the Ohio BioProducts Innovation Center and PolymerOhio. Facilitated by Deborah Cummings with  ODOD, the meeting was designed to articulate industry needs associated with the acceleration of bioproduct commercialization and economic development in Ohio.

"Wright Projects" to Support Your BioProduct Initiatives Print E-mail

Industrial collaborators may be able to utilize cutting edge technologies, train future employees, and lessen costs associated with bioproduct projects by collaborating on one of OBIC's Wright Project proposals. This program provides capital funding ($1.0 – $3.0 million) with no more than 25% or $500,000 allocated to operating costs). Proposals are currently being developed in three areas; a) pilot scale biorefining, b) nano-tailored, bio-based composites, and c) integrated applications development.

CMPND- Working for Ohio Print E-mail

 There are many exciting opportunities for innovation in areas of overlap between biotechnology and nano-technology. OBIC works closely with the Center for Multifunctional Polymer Nanomaterials and Devices (CMPND). An Ohio Wright Center of Innovation, CMPND includes six major universities helping to commercialize polymer nanotechnology. Current projects for CMPND include nano-reinforced polymer foams for insulation and structure markets. They are working to develop a new generation of light-weight, high-strength, insulation-efficient and fire-resistant polymeric foam with the use of innovative nanomaterials and supercritical fluids technology.
