Feature Story "Wright Projects" to Support Your BioProduct Initiatives Industrial collaborators may be able to utilize cutting edge technologies, train future employees, and lessen costs associated with bioproduct projects by collaborating on one of OBIC's Wright Project proposals. This program provides capital funding ($1.0 – $3.0 million) with no more than 25% or $500,000 allocated to operating costs). Proposals are currently being developed in three areas; a) pilot scale biorefining, b) nano-tailored, bio-based composites, and c) integrated applications development. |

Feature Story Advanced Natural Fiber Composites One year ago OBIC hosted an expanded meeting of its Board of Advisors to identify and prioritize opportunities for biobased materials (see Preceding Report). A survey of polymers stakeholders that preceded the meeting identified natural fibers as the most important biobased feedstock. OBIC collaborator Dr. Prabhat Krishnaswamy, President of Natural Fiber Composites Corporation (NFCC), is leading an effort to develop this next generation of composite materials for application in transportation, building and construction, and consumer and industrial products. |
