Located at The Ohio State University, OBIC is a unique alliance established in 2005 with financial support from the Ohio Third Frontier Program.

As a major manufacturing state, Ohio is a significant user of energy and materials.  Ohio farmers and agribusiness can produce and convert biomass to supply major portions of this material demand as a substitute for petroleum.   By their nature, food and advanced energy product plays a critical role in the formation of a new, integrated bioeconomy.  To enhance Ohio's position as a leader in bioproducts innovation, OBIC fosters discovery and use of Ohio biomass and new technologies via a market needs model, thereby accelerating bioproducts commercialization.
