The Ohio State University (OSU) and USDA-ARS scientists direct Genetics and Breeding programs for soybean, tomato, corn and other plants. Research is directed at improved yield, plant composition, pest and disease resistance, tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses, and other key traits. The OSU Department of Horticulture and Crop Science's Soybean Breeding Program is supported by researchers in genetics, molecular biology and plant pathology.

The USDA Agricultural Research Service (ARS) Corn and Soybean Research Unit , located on the OARDC campus in Wooster, conducts research on corn and soybean viruses, and disease and insect resistance for soybean plant improvement.

Molecular and Cellular Imaging Center (MCIC) , within the OSU Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARD), provides microscopy, molecular biology/genomics and bioinformatics support services. The facility, located on the OARDC Wooster campus, includes DNA sequencing and real time Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) instrumentation; light and confocal microscopes, transmission and scanning electron microscopes, and a phosphoimager. MCIC staff provides computational support for genomics research.

The OSU Plant Molecular Biology and Biotechnology Program is an interdisciplinary group that includes 30 scientists from seven departments in the OSU College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences and the College of Biological Sciences. Excellent laboratory facilities, equipment and analytical services are available at both the Columbus and Wooster campuses.

OSU is part of the Ohio Plant Biotechnology Consortium (OPBC) is a formal association of 11 Ohio universities that serves to facilitate and stimulate plant and agricultural research. The OPBC operates a competitive grants program.

The Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) led by Director Steven Slack, is the premier center for agricultural research in Ohio with 274 scientists engaged in over 400 research projects at the Columbus and Wooster campuses. OARDC faculty share academic appointments with departments in OSU's College of Food, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences, the College of Biological Sciences, the College of Human Ecology, and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

The OSU College of Food, Agricultural and Environmental Sciences (CFAES) includes ten departments, OSU Extension, OARDC, the Agricultural Technical Institute (associate degree programs), and a number of related centers and divisions.

The Ohio State University is one of the nation's largest public universities and a world-class research institution, with over 51,000 students and 3000+ faculty at campuses in Columbus, Wooster and five other locations around the state.

Battelle Memorial Institute (Battelle) is a global science and technology enterprise that develops and commercializes technology and manages or co-manages laboratories in the U.S. and abroad. Battelle oversees a staff of 20,000 scientists, engineers and support specialists, and conducts $3.4 billion in annual research and development. Battelle serves the U.S. Department of Energy in the operation of the Pacific Northwest National Lab, Oak Ridge National Lab, the National Renewable Energy Lab and other national laboratories.

Through the vast resources of The Ohio State University, Battelle Memorial Institute, national laboratories and OBIC industry partners, OBIC can access a comprehensive set of capabilities across the bioproducts supply chain.
