OBIC was engaged by the Ohio Department of Development (ODOD) to quantify current usage rates of biobased products within the state and to project substitution potential of these biobased products for their petroleum counterpart. ODOD would like a clear picture of the potential biobased markets within the state, and this study will help shed light on the polyol/polyurethane sector.
A collaborative survey effort between the Ohio BioProducts Innovation Center (OBIC) and PolymerOhio, targeting users of polyols in the urethane manufacturing market has been initiated. The goal of the survey is to interview approximately 50 Ohio companies working in the area of polyurethanes. During the survey, participants will be asked their opinion on potential of these biobased polyols to substitute for petroleum-based polyols, barriers and advantages of using biobased materials, and cost issues. From the data collected through the survey, Ohio’s leaders would be made aware of the opportunities available to the state’s chemical and polymer industries ensuring that Ohio has the information required to grow and expand in this new biobased industry and create wealth and jobs within the state.
OBIC and PolymerOhio have selected Customer Profiles, LTD, an organization led by Ms. Victoria Haidet, to manage this survey effort. Ms. Haidet and her team are highly experienced market researchers and business strategists. The interviews are voluntary, confidential and should require less than 20 minutes.
